Yeah, I'm a little late with this. Sorry... I got distracted by FFXIV news... and also the aspect of PVP has never been a big draw to me.
As mentioned a few days ago, Hellgate: Resurrection had a big PVP update forthcoming.
Surprisingly, the Koreans released it about 4 days earlier.
Unfortunately, they did not update the English files for the game, so anyone playing the game on the Korean server will have to put up with Korean again. Otherwise they'll have to put up with a bunch of text that's un-organized and/or rampant with: "MISSING STRING NO 125" like text entries.
New PVP Match Making System- I'll add more details later, but the gist of it is simple; a walk through on how to use the new station PVP terminals.
* Only dueling and team Death Match are available at the moment. Free For All Death Match and Capture the Flag are not in the game yet, it seems.
* There seems to be three maps you can pick from for Death Match at the moment: Underground Train Tunnels (Small), London Streets (Medium) and Necropolis (Large)
PVP Balance Changes * While in PVP, you cannot use certain healing items.
* Player damage is reduced by 70% and attack range is reduced by 25% in PVP.
* The damage penalty based on level difference however, does not apply in PVP.
* Status buff durations are reduced by 50% in PVP.
* The effectiveness of the Guardian's auras, prayer of healing and Great Defender are reduced by 50% in PVP.
* Evoker Curses suffer a 50% duration loss in PVP
PVP Rank & Points - Players will earn PVP experience from kills in PVP. The experience in PVP is used towards gaining PVP ranks. With higher PVP ranks, players receive:
* Titles that they can display next to their name in game.
* More effectiveness in PVP; I.E. a character with a higher PVP rank will do more damage and take less damage from players with a lower PVP rank.
- PVP Points are also accrued, based on the results of a PVP match:
* PVP points can be used at specific merchants for special rewards; when rewards are purchased, PVP points are used up like regular palladium or hell cash.
New PVP Ladder- Starting June 16th, a PVP ladder will start keeping track of the player populace. Players who do well in PVP will receive special rewards from time to time.
