Happy 1st birthday SotW!

It was about this time last year that I switched the forums on and told the FSF SotW crew that the forums were open for business.

The site was launched with the hope of giving SotW a place to call home once Hellgate: London was shut down. Thankfully a year later, SotW is still alive and strong and we haven’t let the guild die alongside the game that brought it together.

So thanks for the good times guys, and hopefully there will be many more years of gaming to come yet!

The expansion to Sacred 2: Fallen Angel has been officially given a title – Ice & Blood. It was announced a week ago on the German forums then a few days later on the English forums, and finally ended up on our forums thanks to thegreatcthulhu.

For those too lazy to scour the internet for details (like myself) Cthulhu has kindly provided some information about the upcoming expansion in his thread.

- Release Date: this August (PC only)
- 1 new class (more may come): Dragon Mage – Summoner / Offensive Magic Caster / Transforms into a Dragon
- 2 New Regions, with new sub-campaigns for each region: Blood Forest and Crystal Plains
- Combos now can have up to 5 combat arts
- New, very powerful legendary weapons and also currently existing legendary weapons will be enhanced
- Two new horse mounts: Unicorn for good characters and Flame Horse for evil
- Carrier imp will be given to everyone who buys the expansion.

In other Sacred news, Dirty has a thread on the forums trying to organise a weekly game night for SotW members to meet up together and play. Details are still sketchy at the moment, but so far all you need is a character on the Light campaign on the US servers. If you’re interested in joining the event, check out the thread here.

I’ve done a little bit of spring cleaning on the forums this evening, moving around the locations of some of the boards. As briefly discussed in the forums, the Sacred 2 board has been moved to the Other Games section as the majority of discussion around the game has ceased. While in the cleaning mood I also shifted the Diablo III board to the Other Games section as well.

This now makes the forum a lot sparser but also reflects the fact that at the moment we don’t have a flagship game that the majority of the guild is playing.

However, there is another game that some members of the guild have recently started playing and so it has also been added to the Other Games section of the forums.

Requiem: Bloodymare is a free to play MMO, so why not download it and give it a test run. It is also celebrating it’s one year anniversary at the moment so there is increased experience, drops, and lant (gold) throughout this month.

If you do try out the game, be sure to post about it in the forums so your character can be added to the in game guild.

Just a quick note to say that in 5 minutes the forums will be down for a minute or two while I update them to the latest version. There’s a hack going around that targets SMF boards like ours, and this update addresses that problem. I will edit this post when the forums are back up.
